Candy Heart Graphing!

Love candy hearts? This year besides sorting by color I had my students sort on the graph and then we colored in each box that we had that color heart for. This is another math sheet I got from www.kidssoup.com

Heart Counting!

As a math center I used a template I got from www.kidssoup.com to have students work on matching number to quantity and word in various levels. Here are some of the pictures I used with a brief description in the comments on how I adapted each one.

Valentine

It's Valentine's Week in my room!
My class will be having a heart pancake cooking lesson in the morning, pizza party for lunch ( our class party) and then heading to two great inclusion rooms to celebrate! Tomorrow I will be posting pictures of our themed art projects along with centers we are doing!

Crazy Month

After being swamped with alternative assessments and sick kids, I'm writing this blog in the waiting room with a 5 year old going stir crazy. I am back at it full swings to get information out that I have found useful in my special needs class. Every week I will post my classroom theme and some ideas that I have used in my room. I will post ideas, pictures of projects on the blog for you!

Making Colored Glitter

With the holiday season upon us I was in need of some glitter for my students art projects. Not being a fan of glitter we were out. So I found a recipe on Pinterest using salt and food coloring to make our own. This became a great science lesson for my students as we made it. I gave each student some salt in a bowl and put a few drops of food coloring in the salt. Students stirred and then poured the salt on a cookie sheet to cook for 10 minutes at 350 degrees and we had our own glitter! My students loved it. I liked the fact it cleans up nice with the only downfall being it's not as shiny, but the colors are beautiful!
