Making Colored Glitter

With the holiday season upon us I was in need of some glitter for my students art projects. Not being a fan of glitter we were out. So I found a recipe on Pinterest using salt and food coloring to make our own. This became a great science lesson for my students as we made it. I gave each student some salt in a bowl and put a few drops of food coloring in the salt. Students stirred and then poured the salt on a cookie sheet to cook for 10 minutes at 350 degrees and we had our own glitter! My students loved it. I liked the fact it cleans up nice with the only downfall being it's not as shiny, but the colors are beautiful!
